MOST VISITED PLACE IN KASHMIR | PAHALGAM

It was time to bid another goodbye yet again but that’s the beauty of a journey right? You bid farewell to one place with a heavy heart but wait for another new one with a thrilling sensation. Nevertheless, it was time to welcome our next destination on the list, Pahalgam. It was my third day in Kashmir and it started with a warm breakfast in my suite. I quickly freshened up and got all layered up because I wanted to have the most of the day, unlike the previous day. It’s always better to be covered up than feeling cold.

BIKE MISHAP

I went to start my Bike but not to my wonder as I knew due to the snow the bike didn’t start. I gave it a few kicks but the engine didn’t gear up only since the machine was frozen as well in the snow. The hotel staff were very warm and generous and fetched me some hot boiling water. I poured it all over the bike with the help of them but the bike didn’t seem to be in the mood to rave up. The battery also went all down on the bike. Anyhow, I cradled the bike to a distance so that I can try to switch it down a slope. I gave up all my hopes for the day even after so much preparation. Seeing me all covered in distress and helplessness the local folks rushed to help me somehow. They pushed the bike all the way down the slope and by the grace of the gods and these people it finally started. I was so happy at this point and will always be indebted by the favour of these generous beings.

Talking about these lovely human beings of Kashmir one can always tell that if you ever encounter them they will very warmly welcome you and always be ready to help you as well. It was amazing having

candid conversations with folks of different walks of this beautiful vale.

BETAAB VALLEY

I checked in at a local dhaba for lunch in Pahalgam since I hadn’t had anything since breakfast and the bike mishap made me even hungrier. Then I went on and freshened up at my room in Pahalgam and got ready to visit “Betaab Valley” next. Betaab Valley is a very sought after place for many film shootings including the one most famous movie Betaab after which the valley was named after so. And to my sight, everything I laid my eyes on was just oh so perfect! This place was utterly gorgeous! The rivers, the bridges and the mountains hiding in the snow with the large lush pine trees standing as armours were something just out of a Disney movie. It was even more beautiful than the landscapes of Switzerland. It was so incredible that my friends couldn’t believe that I was in India in the pictures.

I clicked a lot here and walked around to absorb the most I could of this beauty. Since I live in the city a sight like this can very easily get you overwhelmed in its warmth. I strolled around the entire place, visited markets for as far as I remember the whole day. I wasn’t tired today but just in awe of a wholesome experience I just had.

Not to forget I met two little cuties on my way who showed me places around to get clicked and were really sweet. Then I went back to my room and thankfully the heater was on and it felt warm and nice inside. I had a nice dinner and chit-chatted with the local visitors and people there about my whole experience and the stark contrast between the city life vs the life in Kashmir.

Later as I headed back on the road, a familiar voice from the valley, a magical voice to be profound greeted me, the air whistling thrush singing away, bidding me farewell. It was the hardest goodbye I ever had. My heart was lost in the serene beauty and people of Kashmir. It was a bittersweet feeling but every journey has to end and I ended mine with a new revelation within myself and the memories that I interacted with within myself.

THE END

I experienced a lot in these few days in my trip and feel sad about how people miss out on such great places just out of baseless rumours shown in media and fear created by the same I promise once you head out with people who you know are well informed than this one inch of fear and hesitation can lead you to such beautiful sights one can only dream of. I personally felt very safe and secure and the affection smote me by the people there. The community here is so positive, generous and I can assure you that from my own experience when I was stuck in the snow with my bike in despair. The hospitality they offer is what instantly connects you with them out of all differences.

I spent most of my days here without any internet connection and felt so relieved and rejuvenated free from all the man-made complexities. I realised up at Gondola that people here were so content in their life and simple things made them happy. We end up cribbing about so much in our lives that we fail to enjoy simple little things as a result.

From my trip to Kashmir, I realised everyone has their own little story but it’s about how one wants to make out of it. One can either be the narrator of his own story or could be just an actor acting in it. I always want to inspire people to be narrators of their own story and be the tail of their own blaze. With that hope, I feel like I can connect with many people and can’t wait to share more of my stories with you all.
